All you need to take IELTS is your original passport (photocopy is NOT permitted). You can also take your unlabelled bottle of water into the test room.

How to Book Your Test

STEP 1: Have your passport ready

STEP 2: You are required to upload the coloured copy of your passport

STEP 3: All you need to book your test: Passport, coloured copy of your passport, credit card details (if necessary)

STEP 4: Click “Book online now”

STEP 5: Create new user and login to your account to book your test

STEP 6: Upload the coloured copy of your passport

STEP 7: Make payment either by credit card or at the convenience store

STEP 8: Check your confirmation notice available online

Payment

The IELTS test fee is 27,500JPY for both IELTS on paper and IELTS on computer.

Please be aware that you must complete your payment through either of below methods within 2 calendar days to confirm your booking.

Booking Deadline

The closing date of registration is as follows:

Credit Card Payment: 3 days before the test date (IELTS on paper), 6:59 am on 3 days before the test date (IELTS on computer)

Convenience Store Payment: 6 days before the test date (IELTS on paper), 6 days before the test date (IELTS on computer)

Please note, you will receive an email when you complete your payment and the status of your payment will be changed to “Paid” on your booking page.

ID Documents

Your passport must clearly show:

your name
your photograph
your date of birth
your passport number
the expiry date of your passport (and extension if applicable)
your signature (if applicable)

You must upload a digital coloured copy of your passport to your IELTS Essentials account.

Final Information

Please download your test day details here (The details will be uploaded at least 2 weeks before the test date.).
Schedule of your speaking test will be sent to you approximately 3 days before the test date by e-mail.

Cancellation / Test Day Transfer

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation MORE than 5 days ahead of the test date – test taker will receive a refund excluding the administrative fee of 6,050 JPY.
Cancellation LESS than 5 days ahead of the test date – test takers will receive NO refund, unless a serious cause applies.
Failure to appear for the test without any prior notification is considered a cancellation and NO refund will be accepted. This includes arriving late on the test day. The test takers must apply again for a new test date.

Transfer Policy

Requests for Test Date Transfer or Module change must be made MORE than 5 days prior to the registered test date (administrative fee of 6,050 JPY will be charged). Transfer dates will depend on availability.
Test takers who wish to transfer or change LESS than 5 days prior to their registered test date will be treated as a cancellation and will receive NO refund, unless a serious cause applies. The test taker must re-apply for a new test date.
Only module change will be accepted with free of charge if test takers submit the online request form within 48 hours of completion of payment and no later than noon, 5 days prior to the test date. Please note, module change is subject to availability.

Serious Causes

Test takers who seek to cancel their registration or transfer test dates within the 5 days prior to the test date will receive a refund only for the below cases:

Serious illness – e.g. hospital admission or serious injury (Does not include minor illness such as a cold)
Loss or bereavement – death of a close family member
Hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident
Military service

Apply for Refund/Transfer

Cancellation or Test Day Transfer: Test takers must submit a request form by noon, 5 days prior to the test date.
Cancellation for Serious Causes: Test takers must lodge an application for refund no later than 5 days after the test date. Test takers must complete an online request form and send the appropriate documentation and/or evidence by email. Acceptable documents may include a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death certificate, or a police report. Statutory declarations and certificates signed by family members are not acceptable. Test taker must send all documents by 5pm, 5 days after the test date.
The Administrator will advise the test taker within one week of lodging the application whether or not their request has been approved.

IELTS Official Test Centre/ General Incorporated Foundation Japan Study Abroad Foundation is NOT responsible for any consequences caused by failure to complete all steps of the registration process due to mistakes or other input made by the applicant (test takers) when registering information. In such case, the Foundation will not rectify the mistake made by the applicant and will not refund the fees already paid.
IELTS Official Test Centre/ General Incorporated Foundation Japan Study Abroad Foundation reserves the right to cancel any examination, to change the scheduled date and time of the examination and the order of the examination, and to refuse to accept any application for examination. If the Foundation cancels the examination except under the circumstances set forth below, a full refund of the application fee will be made.
IELTS Official Test Centre/ General Incorporated Foundation Japan Study Abroad Foundation makes best efforts in the operating of the tests. However, the Foundation will not be responsible in the following events:
・any circumstances causing the operation relating to conducting of the test not possible due to circumstances beyond the Foundation’s control including natural disaster
・non-delivery of documents/information due to accident or interruption in postal service
